Hunting 2016: The importance of DNA in hunting


Cinegética once again offers a space in which hunters, fishermen, biologists and other scientists of very different kinds share their knowledge with visitors to the fair.


Print On this occasion, on Sunday 20th at 12:00h. the conference “ DNA tools for breeding and improving wildlife and hunting dogs ” will take place in the Cinegética room.


The presentation will feature Javier Cañón Ferreras, scientific director of the genetics service of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the Complutense University, and Sergio Ocaña, expert breeder and competitive greyhound owner, with moderation by Cesáreo Martín, director of the radio program: Caza, Pesca y Naturaleza.


The conference will address the importance of DNA in hunting, focusing on the value of identifying genetic markers, genealogical and parentage control, hereditary pathologies, delving into the genetic introgression of the red-legged partridge or the usefulness of DNA in breeding hunting dogs.


Once the presentations have been made, there will be a question period for the attendees.


At the end, there will be a tasting of acorn-fed ham and a drink at stand No. 134 of the Caza, Pesca y Naturaleza radio station.
